Everest Base Camp
Everest Base Camp sits at 5,364 metres on the Khumbu Glacier, at the foot of the icefall. It is not a village and not a permanent site. It is a temporary town of tents that appears each spring for the climbing season, empties, reappears smaller in the autumn, and then disappears entirely.
Can a helicopter land at base camp?
Yes, within limits that are worth stating precisely. Base camp is on moving ice, and the landing sites are prepared by expedition teams during the season. Outside the season there is often no usable pad at all. Even in season, a landing depends on surface conditions, on the expedition operating the site, and on the aircraft being light enough to take off again from 5,364 metres.
This is why most Everest Base Camp helicopter tours land at Kala Patthar or Gorakshep rather than at base camp itself, and why any operator promising a guaranteed base camp landing on a scenic tour is promising something they cannot control.

Scheduled scenic flights from Kathmandu that overfly base camp and the Khumbu Icefall, with a landing at Kala Patthar or Gorakshep and breakfast at the Everest View Hotel on the way back. Expedition support and evacuation flights into base camp itself during the spring and autumn seasons, by arrangement.
Time on the ground
However you get here, your time outside the aircraft at this altitude will be short. Ten to fifteen minutes is normal. That is not the operator being stingy: the aircraft is running, the air is thin, and standing around at 5,364 metres having flown from 1,400 that morning is genuinely hard on an unacclimatised body.
