Hinku valley
Kothe
Kothe is a line of lodges on the floor of the Hinku valley at 3,600 metres, among the last of the tree line on the walk in to Mera Peak. It is a descent point for groups coming off the mountain and a pickup point for anyone who has decided not to cross the Zatrwa La on the way out.
Because it is nearly fourteen hundred metres lower than Khare, an aircraft can carry a proper load in and out of Kothe. When a group at Khare is over the weight limit, staging through Kothe is often the answer.
Flights
Kothe to Lukla takes under twenty minutes and is the cheapest way out of the Hinku. It is a morning operation. The valley here is narrow and wooded and fills with cloud early, often before ten.
